Summer Style

Are we surprised that I found another gingham dress that I love? These photos are from a few weeks ago actually and I’m just now getting around to sharing them. When I did a little boomerang on Instagram, I had quite a few questions about where the dress was from…. and the shoes I’m wearing!

Gingham Bow Dress

The dress fits pretty true to size, but I’d only recommend it for girls with curvier chests. I’m wearing the small and usually, I’d fill out a top nicely, but this is still a little loose. I absolutely love the fit and flare silhouette and the BIG bow at the waist. It looks great on its own, but also layers well under a denim jacket– which has slowly but surely become a summer staple for me!

Native Shoe Review

But let’s not forget about the shoes! They are AMAZING and I could not recommend them enough. I “discovered” the brand during a recent trip to Nantucket. Native is a Canadian brand, but opened their first US-based store right on one of Nantucket’s wharves. You may be familiar with the brand if you have kids or have seen any child under the age of 10 in the past year. It seems that every child has a pair– and after trying them on for myself, I can see why!!

I tried on a few different styles and, while I loved them all, I ultimately went with the “Jericho” sneaker because they’re a little more slimming on the foot. I have a pair of Supergas that I absolutely love too and the best-seller from Native has a similar shape, so I wanted something different. I kind of want the entire colorway of the Jefferson style and I’ve been eyeing these knit sneakers too.

The Jericho looks a bit more like a Ked. The best part is that the material is ridiculously easy to clean unlike a traditional canvas sneaker. These wipe clean, can be worn in water (or rain!), and are very lightweight. Great shoes for traveling. If you’re a 1/2 size, I’d recommend going up to the next full size.

J. Crew Circle straw crossbody bag

This bag has also been one of my favorites of the summer. I can’t resist a wicker bag in general and this one is the most practical of the ones I’ve owned. With a long strap and magnetic closure, it’s easy to throw on and get into! The little flap is supposed to go through that loop, but I don’t have time for that and just snap it shut right over it 😉

Hi Carly, I absolutely love this dress and I love the way you styled it with a denim jacket! So so cute! 🙂

Btw, everytime I click on the first link of the dress, Sephora lipstick pops up instead of the dress…

I had this dress and ended up sending it back – loved it, but not enough to keep it!

I’m just now realizing that I might have loved it more if I’d tied the bow in the front – I thought it was supposed to be at the back! 😂😂

I ordered those shoes a couple weeks ago because of you and agree – THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! I’m so glad the brand was introduced to you during your Nantucket trip. I wore them all around Charleston this past week and they stayed endlessly comfortable.

Hi Carly! I’ve been eyeing Native’s for a while- do you wear socks with them, or are they meant to be worn sock-free? Was there a breaking in period where you blistered? Thanks for your help!!

Hi Carly!

I love the sneakers! I’ve been eyeing a pair of Native’s since you posted about them. Do you wear socks with them, or go sock-free? Was there a breaking in period where you blistered?

Thanks!!
