SUMMER WORKWEAR INSPIRATION

When I worked in an office, I remember deciding what to wear to work was particularly tricky during the summer. Between the scorching heat outside and frigid air conditioning inside, I felt like I could never win unless I layered, ha! Although the idea of layering in summer may sound a little crazy, it makes sense when putting together an outfit for work, the same way it never hurts to keep a cardigan on your chair. I rounded up a few work-appropriate pieces perfect for summer office days. Although every office’s dress code is a little different, I hope you’re able to find some inspiration from this post.

Creating a capsule wardrobe for work is a great strategy to make getting ready in the morning easier. For summer and early fall, I’d recommend starting with a base of short sleeve tops, a classic button-up, a few good pairs of work pants, and dresses. Then add blazers, cardigan sweaters, shoes, and accessories to finish your outfit.

I’m a big fan of a classic striped button-up. It’s a timeless staple you can’t go wrong with for work. Pair with white flare pants and loafers for a smart yet stylish outfit. Opt for a pair of black pants styled with a white blousecamel cardigan sweater, and tan slingback heels for a polished neutral look. I am in my floral era this summer and a big fan of this smocked yellow midi dress I recently purchased. It’s the perfect piece to brighten up your workwear wardrobe for summer and would look adorable styled with a white linen blazer and slingback heels. I like that it’s 100% cotton and features smocking for added comfort. This black button-up linen dress is another piece I’ve been wearing on repeat, and I have my eye on this chic knit mini.
