My family’s Thanksgivings are usually very low-key. We’re a small family and usually have a few extra family members and friends join us for dinner, but nothing over the top. I like how casual it is because everyone can truly relax. No need to worry about what fork to use. There’s no stressing in the kitchen to make a delicious dish to bring somewhere. And (the best part) we don’t have to rush around town to be anywhere but home.
One tradition that has remained steadfast over the years is my family’s dedication to playing games. It’s a great way to spend time together! I’m sure every family has their favorites and mine is no exception. (I think we’ve played more rounds of Yahtzee than any other family on the planet– we love it.)
Even though it’s a casual dinner at home, it’s still special and we all pull out some kind of festive outfit. But again, nothing too crazy or formal. I partnered with J. Crew to style this outfit and it’s a great option for a Thanksgiving game night. Comfortable jeans, a nice flowy– yet structured– top, and festive flats.
I actually spotted the flats and planned the entire outfit around it! I mean, those SEQUINS!!! They really sparkle and catch your eye. Even though I’m wearing a super cute tweed jacket here, the shoes are literally showstoppers on their own and can be worn with a simple black dress or a casual black sweater and plain blue jeans. And, bam, instantly fancy!
These are going to be my go-to shoes through the holiday season! If you’re more of a heel girl, they also come in a great block heel that really packs a punch.
I bought this tweed jacket back when it was on pre-order (it’s available now!) and could not wait for it to arrive. I’ve been looking for a great tweed jacket to wear with jeans and over dresses and this one fit the bill. I posted wearing it on my Instagram Story a couple of weekends ago and a ton of people asked me where it was from. It’s a classic and shouldn’t be missed.
I paired the jacket with a bow blouse I bought earlier this fall. I really love this shirt and it paired perfectly with the tweed jacket. You could also wear it with this turtleneck with black piping or a simple crewneck sweater.
This outfit will be perfect to go straight from the dining room table to the family room floor for a fun (or competitive) round of board games.

My family is small too and I love our low key Thanksgivings! We spend the whole day in pjs cooking and watching the parade and then dress a little nicer for dinner. We also enjoy playing games! Our yearly favorite is Train with dominos! So fun!
I love when an outfit post includes fun personal details as well!
