I was, genetically speaking, blessed with extraordinarily thick, super dark hair. Personally, I struggle with my out-of-control mane sometimes, but at the end of the day, I would take thick over thin hair. (Discovering the flat-iron in eighth grade was a pivotal point in my life…)
You would think, considering my genetics and ancestry, that having this thick, dark hair would also translate to my eyebrows. But nope. My eyebrows got the short end of the stick. I wish they were so much thicker because I just love how a bold eyebrow looks. (My junior year of college was so stressful at one point with classes and crew that my eyebrows fell out. I woke up one morning and chunks of both sides had just disappeared. They never really grew back the same. So that definitely didn’t help!)
In fact, I’ve been “faking” it for years by dusting powder into my eyebrows every morning. I used a kit from Anastasia in high school for a while and switched to Bobbi Brown powder at some point. The problem I found with the powder was that it was hard to replicate the same color day after day (sometimes darker, sometimes lighter) and it tended to wear off by the nighttime.
There are some girls who feel naked without mascara… I feel naked without my eyebrows. (I’m kind of in love with Lily Collins’ eyebrows…)
When my mom was here visiting in the fall, she ran out of a couple of her makeup products. While she was stocking up, I poked around the Bobbi Brown counter (one of my guilty pleasures). I stumbled on the product that will forever change my makeup routine: Bobbi Brown’s Brow Shaper & Hair Touch Up.
The simplest little thing, but a huge impact. It’s like a tiny bottle of mascara, but for your eyebrows.
Reasons why I like it better than the powder:
1) It stays on.
2) The same even coverage day after day.
3) For night’s out you can put on a few extra coats for extra pop.
I went to a holiday party with Alison before Christmas and really went for it with the eyebrows. (Photo from Ali’s Instagram!)
This is as close to a beauty “trick” as I think I’ll ever get and, of course, it’s the simplest little product. 100% recommend!
I have the exact same issue with eyebrows!! I love the Benefit brow duo.
Try benefit's tinted brow gel! Works wonders!
I can't say enough how obsessed I am with Lily Collins, especially with her eyebrows… sheer perfection. Her and Camilla Belle are my eyebrow gods.
It's funny that you had that issue – I have the opposite problem! Thin hair on my head, but really thick eyebrows. I even had a unibrow up until about sixth grade (thanks for the love, friends!), when my mom finally forced me to pluck it. Sad day!
Lily Collins' brows are amazing (actually her whole face is pretty fantastic too).
I've never understood the appeal of super thin brows. When I look at photos from back in high school when I had my brows waxed I cringe – and they weren't even overly thin!

Like a lot of the ladies above I also have the benefit duo. I find that it's a bit of an art to apply though and stray away from it except for nights where I'm putting on more makeup than usual. It's great because I have some blonde hairs that make my eyebrows look thinner or patchy in spots, but this sounds way easier!
I'll have to try that! I have thick eyebrows and taking care of them is a royal pain! I get mine waxed but for the longest time it was so hard finding someone that wouldn't wax them into stick thin lines that would make my face look weird. ugh. I use eyes lips face eyebrow kit with a wax type thing first then powder, but a mascara wand seems much easier, and I'm a sucker for any type of new beauty product! 🙂

aw you and ali look so cute! 🙂 xo jillian – cornflake dreams
I use the Benefit equivalent and it's amazing. I used to have Brook Shields eyebrows, but as I've gotten older, they've thinned and lightened. Makes me sad to have ever met my waxer!
I use that and love it, it is magic!

Benefit makes this type of product too. I'll have to try the Bobbi Brown though!
I never leave the house without my eyebrows on! But I have been searching for an alternative to powder (you know for the days I am feeling lazy). Thanks for the recommendation, I can't wait to try this!

I completely agree! I have almost nonexistent eyebrows thanks to scandinavian heritage.. I can't go outside without them colored in! I am in love with lily collins' brows though… so gorgeous. ugh.

I see I'm not the only only one obsessing over thicker eyebrows lately haha! If you ever want to go for a bolder look I've found Hourglass Arch Sculpting Brow Pencil to be my favourite. It's a pencil, with the look of powder but the staying power of a wax. It's amazing 🙂

Lilly Collins has amazing eyebrows. Mine are thicker on the inside of my face and thinner on the outside, but I definitely wish I could grow them out a little, so hard during that in-between period!

I am right there with ya on the thick, dark hair train! My hair is like a lion's mane, truly. I've been getting into thicker brows recently thanks to Lilly Collins and Cara Delevingne and I love the look! I've been searching for the perfect brow tool and I think you hit the nail on the head, your brows look awesome!

I have invisible eyebrows (red hair, white blonde eyelashes and eyebrows), so I'm always looking for new ways to have darker eyebrows! Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely be trying out the brow shaper!
I totally feel the same way, I feel so naked without filling my eyebrows in! I've filled them in for as long as I can remember. Lilly Collins has the best eyebrows and she can totally pull of the thick look wicked well!
