With holiday parties underway, I thought I’d share this fun-and-still-festive look. Honestly… I think I prefer it to a dress? Am I not a dress girl but… a tuxedo woman?!
It’s not a look I would have picked out for myself as my first choice, but I’m doing a campaign on Instagram with J. Crew and a lot of the pieces were sold out in my size. When I took another look through the PDF, the tuxedo blazer stood out to me and I thought…. maybe? Turns out I love it! I ordered a dress too, to be safe, but the tuxedo surprisingly felt much more me. Maybe I shouldn’t feel so surprised. I have loved a blazer since as long as I can remember and this is just a fancy version, after all, right?
Even if you’re not into the tuxedo yourself, I need to tell you about these incredible pants. They’re structured and fit like a dream… but get this… they’re like a sweater pant so they’re insanely stretchy and comfortable. Talk about a win for a party. I have the kick crop version (aka they’re more cropped and feel slightly more casual) as well and loved them from the minute I put them on. Both pants, due to their stretchiness, are great options for postpartum when your size is in flux and you want to feel supported but not restricted.
I love this look so much I’m over here wondering if I sell all my dresses and just wear this as a party uniform from now on 😜

I do not typically comment, but CARLY. You are ROCKIN’ this look! So stunning.
This looks SO chic
I have an aunt who has worn a tux to every black tie event she was invited to for the last twenty years ago. She’s petite and she’s always found it a better way to stand out
Whoa! Incredible and stunning on you. NYE perfection in fact.
On an entirely different note, would you write about motherhood and weekends/nights/mornings/etc? I would love to know your routines for sanity and smoothness because you’re so organized. I only have one (18 month old) and I’m just still hanging in there, I desperately need to in general upgrade my routine’s.
