Wedding Photos I’ve Saved

Even though I’ve never pictured myself having a big wedding, I have saved some images on Instagram. Mike knows I’m Team Elopement and he’s Team 400 Person Wedding. (I’d like my parents, sister, grandma, and a handful of my closest friends to be at my wedding and Mike’s the kind of guy who has fifty friends from each stage of life that would make his invite list plus his family is ginormous.) We’ll probably meet somewhere in the middle. Right now, to be totally transparent, we have no idea when, where, or how we’re getting married. I told myself I could start worrying about starting July 1. The pandemic will absolutely play into our decisions though, mostly because my grandma is in her 90s and it’s important to me that she’s included.

I do think once we figure out the when and where, it may feel a bit more real. Right now it just feels… overwhelming and a bit hypothetical. One thing that really gives me peace of mind, pretty much no matter what, is how excited Mike and I are to build a life together. We have a good perspective on what’s important when it comes to a wedding and what isn’t… and that a wedding is how we will kick off our marriage, not that it’s an end-all-be-all day.

Some of the very few photos I’ve saved on Instagram. (I scrolled through with my friend and she said to me, “That’s it?” 😝)

(I am infinitely more excited for flower girl dresses than I am for my own…)

No matter what we end up doing, I really want a tent. It’s the one thing that I know for sure I want when it comes to a wedding.

I told myself I would *never* give out wedding advice because it was my least favorite part of being engaged butttt I will say as someone with a huge family who had a tent wedding, having an amazing live band is an unforgettable experience. We had the Silver Arrow Band (they play all over the northeast and beyond) and they were hands down one of the greatest decisions of my LIFE. Highly highly recommend. Good luck with all the planning!! Xoxo

As someone who has lost a grandmother that is very dear to my heart, I’m happy to hear that including her is a priority for you. Grandparents are irreplaceable and to this day I wish that I could go back, ask more questions and spend more time with them. Congratulations! 🎉🍾

Congratulations Carly! As an engaged lady – I totally agree that I am so excited to plan my life with my fiance (and quite excited to kick that off with a great party too, ha). Maybe you’ve looked/heard, maybe you haven’t…but as someone who did…a tent wedding ADDS UP. We considered it, but ultimately it was just so much more than a local venue (small Ohio) that we opted to spend the money elsewhere. Just a heads up so you an avoid the stick shock I got! Savor these moments, it’s amazing how fast it goes!

Love love love all of these photos! It’s definitely gotta be interesting starting to plan a wedding right now but also something to look forward to when things are more normal again!

I got married last April on a cruise with 100 friends and family. It was a total blast! My husband and I keep saying how happy we are that we did it then -since cruising will def be out of the picture for a long time now 🙁

So very happy for you, whatever you end up doing will be amazing.

I just bought my wedding dress this week! If I can give you ANY advice is to plan a wedding a year from now. It seems like a LOT of time, but believe me, IT´S NOT! In your case you already have your house so that a PLUS! My fiancée and I took a fixer upper project so we have the wedding, the honey moon and the house. It´s a lot of stress, but enjoy every second! If you do things without rush you will enjoy every step of the way! Hope you guys have the most beautiful wedding, honey moon and life together!

Hi

Just wanted to pass along a compromise…I had a wedding ceremony with just family (10 people) to keep the elopement vibe/intimacy of the ceremony and then a party for everyone (100+)

I went to a wedding like this! Was only invited to the reception, and just the immediate family and MoH were at the ceremony. The bride wanted a small intimate wedding and the groom had lots of college friends. Great compromise and we had so much fun as guests!

Definitely be sure to get event insurance that will cover any deposits should you have to cancel due to COVID-19! I can’t wait to see how everything comes together for you!

Okay I LOVE the inspo! I am so excited for a “wedding series” of blog posts?! *fingers crossed* AND, how cute would it be if you sewed all of the flower girl dresses!? Again, congratulations Carly! 🙂

Love these pictures! And I can totally relate to the whole including family members. When we got married back in 2014, we were thinking about getting married abroad, but it was so important to me that my 92 year old (now late) grandfather was present and he was simply to old to travel anywhere. We ended up having a wedding in my hometown in Norway and loved every second of it! 🙂 Good luck with the planning process – make sure to enjoy it, because it’s such a fun part of the whole package! 😀

My husband and I originally wanted to get married in the Rocky Mountains where we met but decided that wasn’t a good option because my grandmother wouldn’t be able to attend. I’m so thankful we selected somewhere she could travel because she passed away 6 months after our wedding. Having her there on my wedding day and having that be my last memory of her is so special
