WEEK OF OUTFITS 1.26.21

A super casual and cozy week of outfits, bare feet and all! We barely did anything this past week… which definitely seems to be the new winter normal. It felt VERY cold too with lots of on and off flurries. No snow accumulation, but we’d get these dark clouds move over and then flurries almost every day it seemed. I have a grilled cheese rule where I make a grilled cheese with soup on snow days… so I had a lot of grilled cheeses for lunches 🙊

LAST WEEK’S WIN: Of course, watching the inauguration was the win of last week. It felt so good to watch and I absolutely let out a sigh of relief when it was clear it was going to be peaceful. It was incredible watching such a diverse group of people fill all the different roles. From performers to Vice Presidents 🙏🏻

THIS WEEK’S GOAL: I have gotten in a bad habit of scrolling through my phone before bed. It’s pure boredom and absolutely lazy. I read every night and then I have been allowing myself to scroll through stuff on Instagram or Tik Tok and it’s so freaking addictive. And I don’t even care about what I’m seeing… I just scroll and scroll and scroll. I need to be better about this… so the goal this week is to put my phone on my nightstand in sleep mode when I read and to NOT do the pre-sleep doom scrolling.

TUESDAY

I don’t think we did anything all that interesting. The most exciting part of the day was when I remembered I had popped some old bananas in the freezer a few months ago to have on hand for bread. When I discovered them, I immediately pulled them out to thaw and made some banana bread!! I made so much of it at the beginning of the pandemic last year that it tasted like April 2020 to me (lol)… but kind of in a comforting way.

WEDNESDAY

My volunteer day. I know the point of volunteering is to give back to your community, but it has been such a wonderful experience, selfishly, for myself. I love the women I volunteer with. We don’t interact a ton because of COVID, but it’s my favorite (and really only) “outing” of the week. I so look forward to seeing the familiar faces. And on this particular Wednesday, everyone was in such a good mood from the inauguration. (Also my turtleneck got super wrinkled from my seatbelt– it was apparently bunched up under my coat. Whoops!

THURSDAY

I had to get some routine bloodwork done first thing in the morning. I hate getting blood drawn so I try to be as comfortable as possible in case I faint 😆 It went great and I treated myself to a breakfast sandwich from Dunkin’ afterward from fasting.

FRIDAY

I had a big campaign that required most of my attention on Friday. Drafts weren’t due until this week, but I wanted to go into the weekend without it looming over my head.

SATURDAY

I didn’t feel super great (hormonal not COVID related, don’t worry) on Saturday and spent most of the day just lounging on the couch. Felt lazy and kind of good to just succumb to the couch and watch TV.

SUNDAY

All dressed up with nowhere to go. Mike watched a lot of football and I had some work to commit to during the afternoon, but it was so worth getting ahead of schedule. I try really hard to not work on the weekends– sometimes it’s unavoidable and sometimes I choose to spend a few hours working on a Sunday if it means I won’t be as stressed out on Monday.

MONDAY

A full computer day! No makeup and a comfy outfit to sit in front of my computer, respond to emails I’ve neglected, and get ahead on projects.

Ok I know you’ve been feeling a little down lately, I have to share this you. Glamour mag did a fantastic series released on YouTube last September about elite gymnasts preparing for the Olympics. Search “Defying Gravity” on YouTube, there are around 8 40 min episodes. Perfect to have on during a workday, these girls are so inspiring!

I had the same problem with doom scrolling! Bought the Hatch restore sleep machine and it has been wonderful! I leave the phone downstairs at night. I genuinely love falling asleep to the outdoor/fire sounds and waking up to the ‘sunrise.’ It’s is just a little treat to look forward to at night!
