Where Do You Want to Go?

We’ve been doing Zoom calls with Mike’s family a couple of times a week. Sometimes they’re themed but they’re always fun. On Sunday’s call we all went around talking about where we want to travel to next, once we’re totally safe to, whenever that may be. Greece, Peru, Italy, the South of France all were mentioned.

I’m not terribly keen on getting on a plane any time soon. My first reaction was to say how I love that we haven’t had to (aka been able to) travel anywhere. I have no desire right now to be anywhere but home. I really enjoy being home and I’m happy here. Even though I’m not usually jetsetting across the globe, we do frequent trips down the shore, to various cities for weddings/parties/events, work trips, etc. And, I’m not going to lie, it’s been nice to not have to pack a bag of toiletries or unpack a suitcase.

That said… it’s still fun to dream!!

Where do you want to go when we can travel again?

I have a trip planned to Nantucket in July and I’m crossing my fingers we’re able to go. Right now it’s the only place I really want to go so we’ll see! The woman I rent the house from is being so nice and accommodating is fine to do a last minute cancellation should we still not be allowed to travel.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Tampa so that’s on my list too. I had been trying to plan a trip down there once we got back from Canada in March. Though we had to cancel that trip and, of course, all ideas of other trips too! My parents have done a ton of work on the house so I’m super excited to see it in person (not just over FaceTime).

And for an international trip, I’d love to go to Switzerland. That may be a ways off… but that was the answer I gave on the Zoom call. It’s been on my dream travel list for a while. Every time I see photos of it, it looks absolutely gorgeous.

That’s my list ☺️For now, though, my destinations include anything within our property lines! Sun bathing in the backyard, reading on the porch, cooking classes in the kitchen…

I hope to go home to Paris, France to visit with my family. My grandmother will be 99 years old this coming September. My parents and siblings are there too. I have not gone home in the past 5 years. I had plan to visit this spring though due to the coronavirus, I had to cancel. Otherwise, I look forward to being able to go on long walks with my pups even just within our neighborhood. Nonetheless I am grateful that I am not alone; I have my two dogs and two cats by my side during this quarantine.

I planned to go to New York next fall but due to the situation I think I´ll go next year. I´ll travell around Spain, near home. I´ve been in Switzerland a couple of year ago and it´s just like a fairytale. You´ll love it! Have a nice day

We went to London for our honeymoon and I think about going back pretty much every day! I would love to explore more of England, for sure. Also France, the Netherlands, Iceland…the wanderlust is very real right now!

My mom moved to Sarasota in the fall so I had a trip planned to visit her for Mother’s Day. So that’s still on my list. I can’t imagine being on a plane for quite some time. I even find it so peculiar when I see one in the air now. I’d love to go to Charleston and to San Francisco one day.

Switzerland is so dreamy, a truly excellent choice! I’m hoping to reschedule a Greece trip that was scheduled for June.

The last trip I went on was to the beaches in Greece two years ago, I am hoping to get to the Amalfi Coast in Italy by next summer…something special about being on a European beach.

Love your list! I can’t wait to see my family in CA again, as they had to cancel their trip to see me and I had to cancel my trip out there for Easter. We have a trip to the Bahamas planned for June. Unfortunately, my daughter’s passport hasn’t been processed yet and the passport office is currently closed. Not sure what we’re going to do about that. 😕

Switzerland is everything you dream of, I promise. I, too, can’t wait to get back there. On my list is Amalfi and Rome :). I also recently took an Ancestry test and found out I’m part Greek (I had no idea!), so methinks I need to visit my people as well….

I love this question! My husband and I are stilling planning to go to Las Vegas for his 30th birthday this October (we bought the plane tickets already since they were so inexpensive…fingers crossed we get to use them!). I am really trying to make a trip to Sicily with my grandmother work within the next couple years. And my ultimate dream trip is backpacking through Southeast Asia. The second I can go, I’m gone!

I cannot wait to take my little boy to a playground again! That’s first on my list. We have a trip to Oahu at the beginning of July so hoping that isn’t canceled. If it is, this is San Diego and we have beaches here too. Love your post!

I really want to go to England. My boyfriend and I have a trip planned there in June, which we booked long before coronavirus was a big problem outside of China, and we’re not sure if we’ll be able to make it this year. My boyfriend has never been to Europe though and going to London is his dream so we will be pretty bummed if we have to cancel.

Honestly, I can’t see many countries completely lifting restrictions on their borders this year, so I’m hoping to be able to do a little domestic travel within England later in the summer / fall; hopefully down to Cornwall, Bath, and maybe the Cotswolds. After that, I cannot wait to get on a Eurostar train to Paris, to reschedule my planned trip to the Greek Islands, and to return to the US (Nantucket is high on my list, thanks to you!) and home to Australia.

I am usually a huge traveler too but right now all I want to do is drive 4 hours to see my parents and sit outside a coffee shop with them and the dogs and chat all afternoon.

I haven’t been having great success with travel recently. I was supposed to go to Paris right before Christmas, but had to cancel on account of their pension strike. Most recently (as in was supposed to come home yesterday!) I was supposed to be on my honeymoon down the coast of California. So sad about having to cancel that! The good news is that my fiance and I wound up eloping on March 21 and we’ve spent our quarantine time together. It was the best last minute decision I’ve ever made in my life! We’ll have our “formal wedding” and honeymoon eventually.

We had to postpone our July Bermuda trip to 2021, and I’m heartbroken! We rescheduled, so that does make it better. So now we have more time to research and plan. (I’ve loved your Bermuda travel guides BTW!) We also have a small getaway during Thanksgiving planned for just my husband and me to a Yurt! I’m pretty positive we will still be able to go to that one, so that’ll probably be our first getaway.

My husband and I returned from two weeks in Australia on March 12 – we barely got home in time before everything started to close down. I’m feeling so happy/lucky/fortunate that we were able to get some international travel in before all of this happened. For upcoming travel, we have a trip to Chicago to visit his family and I hope we’re able to make that happen!

We try to go to get out of the US each summer, but my husband doesn’t think other countries will be letting anyone in, so we are trying to find something new todo in the states.
Where did you get the madras top in this picture? Love it.

Switzerland is such a gem! I personally loved Geneva, which I feel doesn’t get enough credit 🙂 It was gorgeous and relaxed- it reminder me of Tahoe! I’m definitely with you on just wanting to be home right now, though!

First, I need to get back to New York to visit my family and meet my friend’s baby. And see Broadway shows.

After that, I really want to go back to Europe. I don’t know where yet, but I wrote a story last fall about traveling in Europe and it brought me such wanderlust. Do I want to go back to Paris and Italy or visit Greece, Monaco, Austria, and Scotland for the first time?

I was supposed to go to Europe with my cousin this summer because we are both graduating with Master’s degrees. I still so badly want to take this trip, and cannot wait for the moment we get to replan and book! Nantucket also sounds nice 🙂 hope you and Mike are having an ok day!

I do hope you come to Switzerland sometime! If you ever need any tips, hit me up! I’ve lived here since I was 13, currently living in Zurich. Would love to share some tips or show you guys around.

Could you give the tips, please?

My husband and I haven’t traveled there yet but it is on the list and I love tips on almost anything — but especially travel!

Sure thing! I’ll give a quick overview here, but you can dm me on insta @jannamk if you want to talk more 🙂
First of all, it’s really pretty expensive, especially Zurich, even backpacker hotels are quite a lot, so I’d recommend Airbnb whenever you can. Especially since you can cook there, eating out is quite spendy. It’s such a small country, so plan on checking out the different regions, even if you’re only there for a week or so. You can cross the country by car or public transport in a few hours. Basically, you can get anywhere with public transport and the trains are really reliable and affordable. If you want a more international feel, spend time in Geneva. People in the German speaking part can be quite reserved, if you want something more lively, I’d choose Basel or Berne over Zurich. If you want the mediterranean feel, check out Ascona (it’s nicer than Lugano or Locarno, IMO, but you’re so close to either city you can still check them out.) There are many special offers combining reduced tickets for in- or outdoor activities with public transport, so keep an eye out for that. If you want to know anything else, feel free to ask 🙂

Fun post!

Hoping to start a family reunion either this summer or next in Newport RI. Other than that hoping to go to Chennai, India and Geneva. Maybe 2021. Maybe 2025!

Also my husband and I have always made frequent trips to NYC (8+ per year) we haven’t in a while and agreed to not go back until 2021.

So fun to think about! I have never been to Nantucket and would love to go someday. When the weather starts to get warmer I’m always dreaming of being at the beach.

Once I graduate with my masters next year, my friend and I plan on going to Ireland to celebrate! We’re hoping it’s safe to travel by next summer.

Right now I’m planning a dream trip to England in August for my birthday. If it’s the end of the world as we know it then I need to see England first! 🙂
