Treating Yourself

love getting massages. They used to freak me out because I was so self-conscious and not totally comfortable in my skin. At some point when I lived in NYC I started getting massages regularly because they were so inexpensive. (I’m not a spa-snob. If someone gives a great massage, I don’t care if it’s a 5-star spa with a waiting room overlooking an ocean or a hole-in-the-wall on 84th street with towels instead of blankets.)

All things considered, I have a pretty low maintenance beauty routine, so I spoil myself with frequent massages (BC– before corona) since I’m not spending the money elsewhere. Definitely missing those massages, but it’s clearly not the worst thing in the world. I’ve been trying to replicate some of that at home. Mike gave me a Theragun a couple of Christmases ago and that has been amazing…. especially when I’m super sore from a workout, it feels so great to use the Theragun. (Warning: it’s pretty expensive but we LOVE it. Yes, we– pretty sure Mike got me the gift because he could use it too, ha!)

Besides the Theragun, I’ve been soaking up my time in the shower and trying to give my skin some extra loving. I wanted to share a product that I’ve been using a few times a week before bed when I just want to treat myself.

TATA HARPER’S REVITALIZING BODY OIL

Honestly, this stuff is good. First of all the scent is fantastic. It’s strong, but I think it really adds to the spa-at-home experience. Floral, kind of like a jasmine or a gardenia. The oil is also extremely hydrating. I’m not wearing dresses, no less short ones, but it’d be a great product to use if you need a little shine. A little goes a long way too so even though it’s on the pricier end of things, it should last a long time.

After getting out of the shower, I pat dry with a towel, pull my hair into a bun on the top of my head, and then apply the oil from my shoulders to my ankles. The key is to take your time rubbing it in. I mostly do deep breathing and try to use the time to really unwind from the day. Half of my enjoyment from this oil comes from the mini-massage I give myself!

Then the second half is slipping into pajamas and sliding into bed with dewy skin. I’m wearing short pajamas here for the photo purposes, but I recommend wearing long pajama bottoms and a long sleeved top so your sheets don’t get oily.

Feels. So. Good.

Very jealous of your pedicure! Wondered if this photo was BC or you have any tips for doing one at home?

I’ve been painting my own toes! But I don’t do anything special- just paint!

This post couldn’t have come at a better time! I was thinking about switching to a body oil after I finish up the last bit of my winter body butter….

Do you have any other hydrating body oil recommendations? (Not sure how I feel about the strong floral scent!)

Much love, XoXo

I love this! And so needed as we head into better weather. Have you tried dry brushing before taking a shower? I do that with some deep breathing. It feels so good and is revitalizing.
