CUTE FANNY PACKS

Have I…. officially lost it?? I have started to hunt for a fanny pack. Yep. A fanny pack. Hear me out though….

The dogs and I have a great walk routine. Especially now that all the ice and snow have melted, I feel so much better. (I had a serious fear of slipping on ice this winter.) We go out to pound the pavement together and we are all better for it. I aim for 45-minute walks, but we have 15, 30, 45 and 60 minute routes depending on what the day allows. To get in a little bit of a better workout, I’ve been wearing my bala bangles on my ankles and it’s fantastic!

Anyway, during the winter, I can load my pockets up with everything I need for the walk– which admittedly isn’t much. But I keep my phone on me, my headphones case, etc. Without pockets, I end up putting everything into the waistband of my yoga pants. It’s not the best solution though and I think I want to get a fanny pack solely for dog walks. I really just want a place to keep my phone stored away safely that’s convenient and safe. Nowadays “fanny packs” goes by various names: belt bags, hip packs, waist bags, etc. But a rose by any other name. They’re fanny packs; and I want one!

I have a Herschel fanny pack specifically for walking my dog and it’s truly so convenient for carrying everything: phone, poop bags, keys, headphones, extra masks, etc!

With the additional room, I’ve also started carrying a pet corrector (spray can that makes a loud sound) and pepper spray; my pooch is only 10 lbs so I’m always cautious of dog/other animal attacks.

I never really felt a need to get a fanny pack until the pandemic! I almost always carry a purse/tote out, but since the pandemic, my outings have been a lot shorter and I haven’t needed to carry much, only what I need for a quick errand, and a fanny pack is the perfect size for that! I’m a sucker for Fjallraven.

I feel like you’re reading my mind! I was just thinking yesterday about my fanny packs. I’m talking longer daily walks, and the weather getting warmer (so no coat pockets to throw keys/phone), I need a FANNY PACK. Thanks for the round up of cute options – this is great!

For next winter invest in a pair of micro-spikes! They slip over any pair of shoes and seriously help with ice. I wear mine hiking and running in the winter.

I bought a plain black lululemon fannypack for hiking and love it! I bought it to carry masks and hand sanitizer. Now I love using it

I have a black one from Lulu as well and it’s literal perfection! Some fanny packs are too small, some too large – this one sits nicely on the body and holds everything I need.

A fanny pack has become a necessity for my dog walks too! Who would’ve think?!

I have a patagonia one that I take with me to college football games and amusement parks and love it! Holds all the things.

I got one last year from Lululemon and it was the best purchase I made for walking my dog – perfect place to put your phone when you aren’t wearing leggings with side pockets.

100% worth it. I carry my Baggu one around with me at work because I have a radio(walkie talkie), phone, hallway passes, extra pens/pencils, and now extra masks for students. Being in education in 2021 😅

I bought a fanny pack from lulu last summer also for dog walks! I had been using an older crossbody bag and when the strap tore I knew I wanted something sportier, like you wrote. It’s been awesome – definitely recommend!!

I have the Patagonia fanny pack and it’s great! You can put it around your waist or use diagonally, definitely worth it!

I have a lululemon one for walks as well! It’s the best. Kind of dorky, but I just dont care. Especially not that I’m pregnant, none of my maternity-friendly leggings have pockets… so nice to be able to store a few things and I can’t clip a sippy cup to the belt.

Echoing other comments on here – the Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag is the way to go!!! It’s become a must-have walk accessory for me.

I think the Stoney Clover in navy is perfect for you. Classic and will go with anything you’re wearing.

Yes to this! I honestly just bought one for when I ride my bike around the neighborhood. The basket on my bike isn’t secure enough for valuables and having a purse flopping around is annoying. For as “uncool” as fanny packs are they are insanely practical and I hope they make a true comeback.

Not about fanny packs, but wanted to say to keep up the walking, mama-to-be! I’m 36 weeks tomorrow and feel better than expected. I credit my dog walking as a big part of it!

I had this exact thought last week when I was taking the dog for a walk! I was like, “When I stop wearing a jacket, I’m still going to need the pockets!!!”

Big fan of this! I had been considering it late summer last year for walks and then my grandmother actually gave me the lululemon one for Christmas and I love it! I even wear it like a crossbody sometimes for errands to feel less like a mom at disney but still keeping the hands free convenience

You haven’t lost your mind! I have a Cotopaxi fanny pack and unabashedly love it. It’s a great size, perfect for short hikes and dog walks, and made from repurposed fabric to help cut down on waste. Plus, they have a great selection of fun colors! My mom and sister loved mine so much they bought their own: https://www.cotopaxi.com/products/del-dia-bataan-3l-fanny-pack?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=306891893&utm_creative=211823725671&utm_placement=&utm_adposition=&utm_keyword=cotopaxi%20fanny%20pack&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9YWDBhDyARIsADt6sGb2TLGq1l3kAvH16-xc70DP0NKKEmOQvt5iTXufACEpIQb3iEeO21YaAspxEALw_wcB

I second this! Cotopaxi fanny packs are great! I love the bright colors and it’s also just a great company to support!

I succumbed to fanny packs too and was totally questioning my own judgement, haha! But they are SO convenient for walks, I hear you! Can’t wait to see how you style it since I feel like I need some help there 🙂

You have certainly not lost it! I also have a dog-walking fanny pack 🙂 I actually asked for the Fjallraven one for Christmas (maybe the smaller size?) and got it. The winter seems to be okay because of coat pockets, but I know I’ll be thrilled to have it when I’m wearing a dress in the summer or leggings with no coat! You go, dog mama.

We used a fanny pack for dog walks in the summer. Two large, black dogs needed water mid-way through a multi-mile walk when in the hot sun. So, with that experience, suggest getting one with bottle holder. It made for a quick grab of stuff when on long car-rides too. You knew you’d have a bowl (make use of all of the small take-out containers!), snacks, “poop” pickup bags and water. 🙂

I have the Stoney Clover one in 2 colors and I LOVE it! The Navy “Sapphire” color one looks great with the pearl letter patches too!

I do not mean to be rude or critical, but you may want to look into whether it is a good idea to walk while wearing ankle weights. I have been told that it can damage the ligaments in your knees, hips, and back. I’m not an orthopedist or a physical therapist so don’t take my word for it, but my intent is to be helpful.
