It’s so hot outside this week that shorts and lightweight dresses are all I can think about wearing right now. So I’m sharing a few outfit ideas for how to style denim shorts this summer. I’m picky when it comes to denim, and this pair of mid-rise shorts have been my favorite for the last couple of years. The rise and inseam are perfect, and they’re under $100.
Timeless outfits that feel like everyday uniforms are the ones I wear most. An easy one for summer is pairing a short sleeve button down with a pair of denim shorts. It’s put together but still casual and a great go-to for those days when you can’t figure out what to wear. Add a pair of white sandals, pearl earrings, and a tan leather tote, and you’re ready to go.
If you’ve been keeping up with my daily outfit posts this summer, you’ve probably seen me wearing a variation of this outfit. I love styling a one-piece rashguard with denim shorts when heading to the beach or pond club. It’s an easy coverup and gives me more flexibility to keep up with an active baby. I also like this combination because if I need to swing by the grocery store on the way home, It’s essentially like wearing a long sleeve tee with denim shorts which feels a little more acceptable to wear in public, ha.
This top may not work for every climate, but I love a short-sleeved sweater when I know I’ll be indoors with AC. Of course, you could always swap this sweater for a puff sleeve top like this one. Pair with denim shorts and woven flats for a simple weekend outfit perfect for meeting a friend for breakfast or running errands.
