Fringe Benefit

One thing that begins to happen as we move into spring and summer is that my social calendar starts to fill up. I don’t know if other places are like this, but I feel like when it’s cold and dark during the winter, everyone hibernates! (Or the things we do are cozier and more intimate and require nothing more than a sweater and jeans.)

I’m thinking ahead to when I’ll need to pull out a perfect dress for something. I prefer to have a few on hand versus stressing the week before to shop. The minute I saw this one online, I knew I had to have it. The fringe detailing caught my eye and the $100 price tag sealed the deal.

Fringe Dress

Normally I’d shy away from something as trendy as fringe (like pom poms/tassels), but the black fringe on the white dress seems elevated and chic. It’s also super flattering and– most importantly– easy to wear.

Because I wanted the fringe to be the statement, I opted for a simple pair of chunky heels (on sale!) and a foldover clutch (only $25!). All black or all white can be boring and sometimes black and white together can look a little cheesy, but I think this whole thing works well. While you could definitely mix in some color, you don’t really have to stray from the classic black accessories.

Isn’t the little touch of eyelet between the fringe fun?

Thank you Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

  • * The dress sold out in a few sizes after I posted it last week! Nordstrom has a ton of great dresses out right now, though. (Fingers crossed they restock it!) Here are a few more cute black and white dress options:

This dress has almost the same fit as the one I’m wearing in the post. I’d pack this one for casual nights out or a vacation. And this one is a little different but stunning.

You look darling, Carly! Your outfit posts are always inspiring. I like to dress on the modest side and classic as opposed to trendy, so your outfits are always spot on!

I absolutely love everything about this outfit! That dress is so cute, I might have to pick it up myself. The white looks great with your dark hair and love that you kept your accessories simple to let the dress’ details be the focal point.

I have to say Nordstrom has really been amazing lately — so many great dress styles for very affordable prices. Just one more reason why I basically only shop there and at Lilly haha.

Whenever a style I like is sold out on the Nordstrom site, I just keep checking back over the next few days and refresh a few times a day — every size usually ends up coming back (I suppose from returns).

Carly- you look amazing! The dress is the perfect amount of classic & trendy and I love the shape. You styled it perfectly! Now here’s to waiting ’till the East Coast warms up so you can wear it again!

Love this outfit, Carly! I love the color scheme – are the shoes comfortable? I’ve been seeing them everywhere, but am curious to see how they feel after a few hours of wearing them!

They are surprisingly… They’re VERY tall, but the chunky heel makes them relatively easy (easier?) to walk in!

Such a beautiful outfit!! Love that you kept it more classic with keeping it all black and white and not adding color! Makes it look very chic!

Hi Carly, I was wondering what size you are wearing in this dress? I am 5’4″ and 128 pounds, petite on top. Thanks!
