My best friend’s mom Laura (affectionately “wowah” to my sister who couldn’t pronounce her name when she was two ha) was the queen of mixing black with colors you weren’t supposed to mix it with. She could rock black with brown like nobody’s business. My sister in particular is always on the hunt for things that Laura would wear and I think of her every time I mix colors. Like navy and black, as worn here!
I’ve been wearing this sweater a lot lately. It’s actually from Kate Spade! (If you have the J. Crew Tippi sweater, it feels the same as that with way, way cuter details.) I’ve worn the sweater with jeans and ballet flats when it was still a bit warmer out and I even paired it with a little leather skirt one night!
Between the tiny bow and the leather patches, this everyday sweater isn’t lacking on chicness. I love a good Kate Spade dress, but being able to wear the brand casually is amazing!
To fully mix up the black and navy, I went for black riding boots and a navy handbag!

ooooo! So I gotta ask you – I ordered Tory Burch boots from a recent post you did – the Marlena ones? Just recvd today and I cant even zipper the GORGEOUS boots over my calf! Argh! Reading the online reviews from the Teresa riding boots, it looks like the calf width is much wider… do you notice this: since you appear to have both? This way I can just exchange rather than return it completely…. thanks in advance!
