I saw little wine glasses with Lilly fabric on ebay a few weeks ago… I thought to myself that it would be relatively easy to make… But what to decorate? Shotglasses… for the over 21ers, of course!
How adorable would these be for a twenty first birthday present???
So I did a little research online and thought long and hard about which process I was going to follow. I took a little bit from here and there and this is the final product!
What you need:
Shot glasses (or wine glasses, or plates, or whatever!)
Mod Podge (I used the Satin Finish in the orange tub)
Sponge paintbrush (they look like a sponge on a stick)
Newspaper
Fabric Scraps
Sewing scissors
Steps:
Lay the newspaper down on a flat table in a well lit room.
Pick out a section of the fabric that you want to glue to the glass.
Carefully cut it out to the size you want.
Dip the sponge end of the brush into the Mod Podge.
Coat the WRONG side of the fabric in the glue first and place and position it against the glass where you want it.
Redip the sponge into the glue and coat the fabric on the glass. Make sure you get the ends very well to prevent fraying.
Repeat 1-6 until you are done with every glass.
Even if the glasses aren’t completely dry, go over them again with one or two coats of the glue.
Allow them to dry for at least three hours.
If you decide you would like a harder finish after they dry, coat them two or three more times.
Voila!
Things to Keep in Mind:
The glasses should only be delicately hand washed. Key word being delicately!
If you want perfect lines, create a template that has a curved in top and bottom so that it wraps evenly around the glass. Practice a few times with paper to make sure it lays correctly.
Only use shot glasses if you’re over 21!
Search places like Bed, Bath, & Beyond for different shapes of glasses… They have great sets that when given as a gift alone are boring, but jazz them up a bit and they’re fabulous!
What an absolutely cool idea which you executed so grandly!!! This is wonderful and easy to accomplish using any individual taste. Thanks…will experiment making for friends faves!!! (notice spelling) Betsy
??? How do you think decoupage would work on glasses using gift wrap etc.??? Might even do college teams…you have opened me up to crafting again…will let you know how my glasses come out!!! Betsy
these are so adorable!! they look so cute all together, you should get one of those shot glass "cabinets" and sand it down and paint it pink and then hang it on your wall with all of the shot glasses!
These are so cute! I love that you made such a large set with a wide variety! You've inspired me to make some of my own, but with my sorority symbols and colors on them! I'll let you know how they turn out by posting about it on my blog!
Happy October 11 to all who celebrate 🎂”Your birthday is October 11?! So is mine!” SIX years later and these parent trap Halloween costumes remain as relevant as ever (frankly maybe even more relevant). Forever grateful to @carlyahill, the Hallie Parker to my Annie James. I believe there was a cultural reset the day we did this 🙊
Sometimes I actually can’t believe I’m a mom? Like I’m standing there holding a baby dressed in a bear fleece bunting watching my toddler running around and thinking, “whoa, these are my CHILDREN? I am a MOM???” Crazy and amazing 🫶🏻
I know, I know, they never went “out” in my opinion too, but I love seeing them come back into mainstream fashion. (As they should IMO!) These red boots were one of my first viral commissionable products on my blog- they took OFF on Pinterest and the rest was history. Feels like revisiting an old friend 😌 I bought these red ones right before a press trip to Scotland (!) with Barbour (!!) and I have the best memories. It’s a good reminder to “buy nice or buy twice.” Ten years later and we’re still going strong!

Ready for a fresh start this month. September is usually my favorite month of the year and I feel like it went by so fast I hardly got to enjoy it- the whole thing was a blur. Ready to savor October- I have a list of things I want to try to do (like sewing the boys’ Halloween costumes 🎃 and keep practicing my sourdough 🍞). If nothing else, I’m trying to take a moment *every day* to do something, even the tiniest 5-minute interlude, that brings me a moment of peace.
PS I definitely need to add some of the bigger blooms but I didn’t want to sacrifice them just yet 🙈
A simple September Sunday 🌧️💛 We’ve been trying to get out and do one last weekend adventure after naptime on Sunday afternoons before gearing back up for the weekday routine. Not even the rain could stop us!
Maybe this Reel isn’t exactly “instagram worthy” but it’s exactly what life looks and feels like right now and THAT is worthy of a permanent spot on the feed 🫶🏻
You are so talented. Love these!
