I am as grateful as can be that smocked dresses are everywhere right now. They’re the easiest thing to wear whether or not you’re pregnant. I think the best part is how you can get a customized fit. I keep asking myself why all clothing isn’t smocked?? And I hope the trend isn’t going anywhere, because it really does make getting dressed– and feeling good– as easy as can be.
After seeing this Swiss dot midi length dress, I knew I had to try it out. Sure, I think I have maxed out how many smocked dresses one woman should really own, but I couldn’t resist the puff sleeve silhouette.
IT’S A SMOCKED DRESS SUMMER
I originally packed the dress for Nantucket and planned on wearing it on Saturday to a barbecue. Thankfully I took photos in it with Georgie a few days before… because it was too chilly and rainy on Saturday to wear it.
I posted a quick selfie in the dress and got a few questions about it. I bought one size up for the bump, but I’d say if you’re not pregnant, it fits true to size. The cotton is also opaque, though I’d still wear nude undergarments and I opted for a bandeau-style strapless bra. Oh, and the sleeves can be worn up on your shoulder or off the shoulder!
I’ve also received a ton of questions about my hat. I bought awhile ago (pretty sure 2016) and it remains one of my favorite straw hats. You can add ribbons and trims to customize the hat, too, but I mostly wear it without any decoration. It’s my go-to hat for traveling and if it gets a little smooshed, I just use my steamer to bring it back to life.

Love this look!!
What bandeau strapless bra do you love!? I’ve been searching since I got pregnant and haven’t found a comfy strapless option.
I bought a VERY cheap one on Amazon because my usual ones don’t fit right now. It’s… not terrible but not great lol
Isn’t wonderful when trends turn out to be so timely? High waisted jeans were coming in right after I had my son in 2016 and I was SO grateful to button up my mom jeans and still feel stylish. Don’t even get me started on how hard I worked the high waisted bikini trend. 🙂
