I’m not used to the weather still being cold. I mean, hello: It’s almost April! Friday was even the first official day of Spring, but it was still so cold! I really was in the mood to wear a springy dress, preferably Lilly. Instead, I had to opt for a sweater and jeans. Again.
I wore a light pink polo under a kelly green sweater with jeans. I still had to get my Lilly fix in, so I pulled my hair into a pony tail with a Lilly button. I made these last summer after reading a tutorial online. They’re quite simple. It still made me happy to be able to wear Lilly, even if it was still chilly 🙂
Yesterday was our first sprint race of the season. It was a long bus ride for a 6 and something-minute race, but we all had fun. The temperature wasn’t too bad and the water conditions were so much better than the Potomac recently. We won our race by a secure amount of open water. Sometimes it’s difficult to cox when you’re up by such a comfortable margin. But it was definitely a good way to kick off spring season.
Today is beautiful outside. I can hardly believe it. It makes me think that maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Three papers are calling my name. Unfortunately. Regattas are fun, but they make getting work done over the weekend difficult.
I moved to New York about nine years ago (and some change). I lived a few avenues away from this very pond and at least a few days a week, I’d walk by it and see moms with strollers and kids playing with the sailboats ⛵️ While I could never live in the city again (😅 there was a very specific window in my life where it worked), it’s crazy to think that now I am a mom with a baby and a stroller.
