I love the concept of having a uniform to come back to on days when you’re not sure what to wear or just want an outfit you don’t have to think about. Over the years, I’ve found my own type of uniform, so to speak, or rather a strong sense of personal style. I prefer sticking to a simple color palette that lets me mix and match without any question. It makes it so much easier to put together outfits when I’m working with pieces that already complement one another. It’s also why you see me recommending many of the same items year after year. If you’re buying classic staples and choosing quality items, they’ll last you for years to come, and you won’t feel like you need an entirely new wardrobe every season!
Having a capsule wardrobe or at least a base of a capsule wardrobe is a great way to find your own version of a uniform and can be a fun way to shop your closet and rediscover old favorites in a new way. Although I’m far from having a traditional capsule wardrobe, I’ve created a modified version over the past few years by selecting items I feel 100% confident wearing. It’s not worth buying a top you’ll only be able to wear one way or a dress you don’t feel comfortable in. Sure, you may wear them once or twice, but after that, those pieces will inevitably find their way to the back of your closet. A curated wardrobe means that no matter what I pick out each morning, I know I can easily style it and be happy with my choice!

Dear Carly: I so loved your summer capsule that I would like you to continue with fall and winter etc when you can. I understand that in the next few months, you will have other more interesting things to do namely taking care and kissing this beautiful baby of yours. However, I want to stress that even if I am now 70 y.o. I LOVE your style. for years I’ve been more an edgy kind of mix between Boho and rock’n’roll girl but now, I prefer softer more feminine looks and each time I open your blog, my eyes are happy. I’m in a good very good mood. so please give us more of your suggestions in way of capsule wardrobe a.s.a.p. Merci beaucoup from Quebec.
Do you have a slip you like wearing under the white nap dress? The fabric is pretty shear.
Yes! I linked to a great one in Tuesday’s post!
Thanks!! I had missed the slip Tuesday. It’s so help ful!
The blue & white gingham maxi has become one of my favorites! In this heat it helps me look put together while keeping me cool. Looks great for all occasions.
Do you know where I can get the JCrew raffia sandals shown?
I have searched everywhere online and cannot find them….only pair close to them is Kate Spade but had a kitten heel that I hate….,.SOS, I want the JCrew pair.
