SUMMER FABRIC & SEWING PATTERNS

I haven’t had the chance to sew in what feels like eons. I miss it!!!! I’m hoping this summer I’ll have a bit more time to commit to pulling my machine out. (I actually stored it in the basement because seeing it was making me sad.)

Rounding up some great summer fabric choices here. After going a little crazy with fabric purchasing last year, I’m trying to hold back right now and use what I have. (Fabric shopping is a hobby on its own I swear!) I am also trying to find a few projects to tackle so I’m excited to sew again.

SUMMER FABRIC & SEWING PATTERNS

First up, I definitely want to make a few more masks. They’re so easy to make and I think they’re going to be a no-brainer way to ease back into sewing. Also a great project to use up scraps of fabric if you have some you’ve been saving.

SUMMER FABRIC & SEWING PATTERNS

For more projects…. I still want to try my hand at this tiered dress that Tabitha Sewer made (shown above; how gorg!). I also bought this maxi dress pattern that I believe will work with my bump– and looks so comfortable for summer!! I haven’t found a ton of baby boy sewing patterns I love, but one of my friends from high school made her son these jon jons and they came out so cute and I found this pattern for darling overalls too.

Would love to know what things you’re sewing lately. I could use the inspiration!!!!

Maybe make a quilt for your little guy? But I’ll warn you that quilting can be addicting as fabric shopping!

I just ordered my first needlepoint kit last week and it’s going to be delivered today. You’ve totally inspired me to pick it up (I had never heard of it before reading your blog, actually) and I’m excited to try my first canvas this week. It’s a little “press here for champagne” one for my bar cart 🙂

I have a question. Did you just start sewing in the last couple of years? Are you self taught?

Thanks

Yes I had learned as a kid but really picked it back up last year when covid started to make masks!

I m gonna make 2 blouses, a light pink and a white, one for my mom and one for me.
And then next project is to make a pillow case to finish a needlepoint canvas.
I really love Citronille patterns for babies et adults, it’s very classic and cute.
I m guilty of having too much fabrics I didn’t use too ; ) I always fall for Liberty or blue and white fabrics

These fabrics are all gorgeous! I am new to sewing and recently bought my first sewing machine. I saved a Youtube tutorial for a puff sleeve dress that someone shared in the Facebook group.

Just made some throw pillow covers with the Rifle Paper hydrangea fabric!

Ps. I have to thank you for getting me into sewing this year! I was a SUPER beginner at the beginning of last year, (had hardly touched a sewing machine) but after seeing all your projects and following along with your scrunchie live I’ve been so inspired! Such a fun and satisfying hobby to get into.

I am making blankets out of my spouses shirts n pillows to match. I’m adding fishing decals drawing them by hand n an angel that is fishing. I’m playing w/ the decals n drawings as to how I want to place them. I’m making 2 of them one for me n one for my sister inlaw. I’m taking my time my spouse was an advid fisherman.

Like the cheerful colors, yet calming with the green ones; excellent choices.
