My jeans are officially feeling uncomfortable. I’m in this awkward stage where my jeans are tight but my bump isn’t really big enough for maternity jeans. It’s also (still) cold and snowy and we (still) have nowhere to go. So… lots of leggings this past week!! Keeping it really, really real.
LAST WEEK’S WIN: I had a meeting with my financial planner and it reassured me so much. It’s one of the best things I’ve done for myself. It was about this time last year that we got everything up. It was so nice having an easy meeting where I could ask a few questions, get prepared for upcoming taxes, and reestablish new goals. If you’re looking for a push to do it…. let this be it! I love that I don’t have to really think about it at all on a daily basis, but to have it operating and running smoothly in the background.
THIS WEEK’S GOAL: I desperately need to clean my car. I’m not bothering washing it because of all the snow, but I have let my car get pretty bad inside. It looks like we’re going to have warm-ish weather this week and could be a great time to be in the driveway to get some vitamin d and check this annoying task off my list.
WEEK OF OUTFITS 2.23.21
TUESDAY
Honestly, a boring day. (Spoiler alert: my whole week was super boring and uneventful.) The most thrilling part of my day was having an errand to run in Summit. I popped into Boxwood Coffee for the first time since pre-pandemic– I’ve really missed them!
WEDNESDAY
I spent most of the morning glued to my computer writing, or attempting to write. Then I popped over to my volunteer shift. Definitely a weekly highlight for me! I always look forward to it.
THURSDAY
I had a lot of boring desk work to do, which was just as well because it was pretty gross outside. We all hunkered down inside and just tried to stay cozy while working.
FRIDAY
We got tons of snow on Friday so we couldn’t do much. I’ve been trying to get out of the house to do one or two errands every day just to feel a sense of normalcy, but I also try to stay off the roads when the weather isn’t great. I started to feel major cabin fever!!! (More than usual.)
SATURDAY
I met up with my sister in law and niece for a little shopping in town to pick out a few things for the baby. It was the first time I have gone into a baby store since finding out I was pregnant. It was such a nice outing! We went to Baby Crossing in Morristown; if you’re local they have so many things. Then we went over to Wightman Farms across the street for powdered doughnuts… a necessity.
Turtleneck (available again in this color!!)
SUNDAY
Kicked off Sunday with bagels– is there anything better than a bagel on a Sunday morning??? And then Mike and I did a little driving tour. It was freezing out, but the SUN was out and that makes a huge difference for me mood wise. I can do the cold if it’s nice and sunny!!
MONDAY
Okay. So I woke up with THE BEST intention of hitting the ground running. Getting dressed. Putting on a dash of makeup. After days and days of wearing leggings I wanted a real outfit. Then we got a few inches of snow, and I just couldn’t bother doing anything besides leggings. Again. It was an otherwise productive Monday though– felt totally geared up to get a good foundation for the rest of the week.
Thank you for keeping it real with leggings and pullovers!

We’ve been going for drives when it’s not icy out. Sooo nice to just drive around, get some consistent fresh air and feel like you’re “moving”
If you’re interested in still wearing your jeans, you can get a belly band. They’re designed so you can unbutton/unzip your pants, then wear the band over the top of the pants. Like a removable pregnancy panel.
Came here to post these! https://www.ingridandisabel.com/collections/belly-bands/products/1011-bellaband
They look like you’re just wearing a tank top under your shirt but you can unbutton your pants and no one can tell and your pants don’t fall down at all.
Do you recommend a financial planner for regular personal finances? I always have the feeling that there’s something I could be doing ~better~ now that I have a budget down pat, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it when my finances aren’t complicated as a childless, mortgageless, corporate working millennial 😂
Personal finances I’d do YNAB! https://carlyriordan.com/you-need-a-budget-and-i-do-too.html
I was wondering how you use YNAB and the financial planner. How that works together or not?
So YNAB is great for managing your daily budgeting and expenses and hitting savings goals. I work with a financial planner to plan for retirement, manage my investments, and coordinate other “big” things like life/disability insurance, etc.
My husband and I hired a financial planner last year and it’s been wonderful. We don’t have kids, a mortgage, or any debt. Couldn’t recommend it more highly!
Love these roundups 🙂 Would you also share where you had your art in the background framed? Thanks 🙂
They’re Kayce Hughes
Sorry! Was wondering where you had them framed!
I bought them framed!
Unsolicited advice – go ahead and get yourself the maternity jeans! Even if your bump isn’t quite needing them yet, they will be SO COMFY and freeing! 🙂
I have them ready to go 🤣
Yay! 🙂
You look lovely as usual Carly and big congratulations on your baby news. I wanted to take the time to tell you I took your recommendation several posts back regarding YNAB and I have to say it has totally changed my relationship with my money. Thank you!
Thank you! AND thank you for sharing!!!! I am so happy to hear that it’s been helpful!!!!
how amazing..
I found that the maternity jeans with the side panels worked best until I was big enough to fit into the full panel jeans. I was also able to wear them again after giving birth before I could fit into my regular jeans. It made me feel more normal to wear jeans…even if there was a pandemic going on.
