Weekend in Rhode Island

I spent the weekend in Rhode Island with Kiel and Sarah and Fred. I’ve been meaning to get up to Rhode Island for a really long time. I almost went last May, but this annoying thing called final exam period got in the way. I ended up booking train tickets quite last minute, but that made the trip that much more fun. Saturdays and Sundays are typically my buckle-down-and-crank-out-work days, so I had a little bit of scrambling to do.
I stayed up extra late working on projects for work and scheduling posts and attempting to attack my email inbox. So worth it.
So Friday night, I left work and went straight to the train station. As someone who mostly grew up in Florida, the concept of trains is so foreign to me. I wonder if I’ll ever feel okay about them. The station is always super crowded and waiting for the platform number to appear is like pure torture. You better hope you’re on the correct side of the lobby, or else risk getting trampled! It looks like a lot more fun in Harry Potter, that’s for sure.
I think getting together with people that you really, really like is a lot of fun. Kiel and Sarah are seriously the nicest people and I’m so thankful they gave me the Rhode Island tour! (I slept here… it was a dream. I swear.) Kiel and I are quite competitive (ha), but I will absolutely admit that he has a worse coffee addition than I do.
On Saturday morning, we all hopped in the car to head over to the factory. Just as we were pulling out of the driveway, we realized we had each grabbed our Barbour jackets. Boys in green and the girls in blue. It was super foggy/misty outside so we just kind of went with it. It ended up just being ridiculous.
Obviously we all wanted our own Instagram shot… this is what happened. Many takes. From top to bottom: Fred’s shot, Kiel’s, Sarah’s, and mine. I think it’s so funny how we have different Instagram styles. They all look so cool together, I think. It’s just plain ridiculous.
So the KJP Factory? Oh. My. Goodness. It’s the Willy Wonka factory of the century. It is beautiful, perfectly whimsical, and just downright amazing. That’s the only way to describe it. I was in complete awe with what they’ve done. The whole thing is incredible… from the people working there, to the packaging, to the factory, and (of course) the products themselves. It was inspiring to be there!!
We worked a bit on our own and spent a lot of time laughing and eating and drinking coffee. Lots of coffee.
Oh, and Saturday night we watched Anna Karenina. AMAZING. The group was split 50/50, but I really liked it. Except for the awful train scenes. The whole time I was dreading the fact that I would be on a train again in 24 hours. Eep.
Needless to say, it was a perfect weekend away from the craziness of the city.
Sarah posted some pictures on her blog– they’re so fun! This was definitely no Florida beach!!! The sun was setting and it was beginning to drizzle.
Fred also captured all the ducks in their glory.

I am obsessed with the green room you're sitting in. I am now determined to have a library with dark wood and mounted deer heads in my future home.
And the beach pictures were amazing. No florida beach, but deinfitely a nice vibe.

I love love love Kiel, Sarah, and you! You're all so perfectly preppy and my style 🙂

Do you pronounce Kiel's name "Keel" or "Kyle"?

Nantucket Daffodil

Adore it all! I am on the brink of Cape Cod, so newport is a short, worthwhile ride…love the preppy looks you all so naturally carry….I have been a fan of you and kiel forever, but never connected the two!

Stephanie Bartolomé

I grew up in Miami, so the concept of a train is foreign to me, too! I saw a New Haven bound train on my way to Target today and definitely HAVE to give Metro North a try before jumping on Amtrak.

Classy Not Clashy

Always wanted to go to Rhode Island… I love the style. And I do love the Barbour jackets!
It's funny how I keep up with both your blog and Sarah's blog, but I never realized ya'll were friends. (:
