I love my trench coat. Mine is an older style from J. Crew, but the current one looks just as great. When I take into account all of the days of the year, not just winter, I think it’s a tie for my most worn coat between my Patagonia puffer and my trench. Not a week goes by where I don’t wear both at least once.
It looks great over jeans and a striped tee and a date night outfit. It’s also one of my favorite things to pack for traveling because it looks so sharp, even if I’m wearing something basic along with it.
While it’s not the warmest jacket, it is a good option for a mild winter day, particularly over a warm and cozy sweater, like I did here.
And when it comes to trench coats, you just can’t go wrong with classic black. You know?
And again. These boots! I don’t know what I would have done this winter without them!!! I picked them up at the Margaux store right before my Paris trip and hoped for the best. Always a risk to wear new shoes on a trip… but it worked out. I went up to a 38 (usually a 37.5 in European sizes) to accommodate socks. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend.

hahh did you time this post for the unusually lovely weather we’re going to have today/Tuesday? ;D I’ve got my day planned to maximise my time outside to enjoy this amazing weather! // I have a lot of coats in my closet but I don’t have a trench coat. I want one but I don’t need one urgently, so I think I’m going to save up for a Burberry coat, and I intend that to be my first and only trench coat! Trench coats are so classic and versatile, so I’m happy to make the investment 🙂 -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

Thank you for sharing more realistic outfit posts showing items you truly love and continue to wear. SO refreshing when it seems like all the other bloggers are just wearing something once and moving on to the next thing. Your blog is so much more sustainable, refreshing, attainable.
I agree! Timeless style interests me more than trends and I like that you show that one can still have fun and enjoy clothes without buying new every season.
I love this outfit and coat! I have also been into these colors for an outfit. I just bought the current J. Crew tan trench, and will be wearing it today because its going to be 60 degrees in NJ?!? Hahah enjoy the weather!

Hi Carly! Love the outfit! Do you find the tote sturdy enough to hold a laptop?
Yes!
A classic trench is such a staple! Love how you styled it here with all black!

Can’t go wrong with a classic trench. My parents bought me a Brooks Brothers trench for my 21st birthday and it’s still my favorite!

I love this timeless piece! A good trench coat will never go out of style. And I’ve been dying to snag a pair of the Margaux boots since you posted them during Paris- I’ve been wanting some new black boots forever! Being on my feet a lot, I want something that’s going to be cute and comfortable.
I love trench coats! They are perfect for fall, warm winter days and spring! I love a trench in the fall with riding boots and spring with classic rain boots!
