BEAUTY EMPTIES VOL. 3

I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since I did my last Beauty Empties post. This isn’t a fully comprehensive list– but just what I remembered to save!!! Whoops. Clearly, I’m no beauty blogger. But wanted to share some of the products that have gotten me through the past year (which, insanely enough, is basically the length of the pandemic so far).

I usually go through makeup more but I just didn’t wear it enough this year to make a dent in my most of my favorites. I also have a bunch of nearly empty products but multiples of them (because I keep skin care stuff in my nightstand drawer and my bathroom) so I’m probably close to finishing those soon too.

BEAUTY EMPTIES VOL 3

DAE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

I bought this during the Sephora sale this spring and I LOVE the shampoo and conditioner. It feels so good and left my hair extra soft. It has a super sweet smell– almost like gummy candy! The best part is that your hair genuinely keeps the scent, which doesn’t always happen with shampoos. My only complaint is that I wish the pump was a tad bit faster– it’s slow on the recovery and my hair takes a few pumps for both the shampoo and conditioner.

DERMALOGICA SKIN PREP SCRUB

Soooo I found one of these in a travel bag that I was cleaning out at the beginning of quarantine. It’s such a good scrub– gentle but still super effective. And I’m just learning now that it’s discontinued (and appears to have been for years). No idea when I got the bottle but I’m bummed! This might be an equivalent!

FRESH SOY FACE CLEANSER

I actually had two full size bottles of this under my sink (where I kept the empties). It’s my favorite and Mike is a convert too. At this point I keep one in the shower and one next to the sink. I think it’s the best cleanser of all time and if I were trapped on a deserted island, it would be one of the three items I’d want the most.

OLAY RINSE OFF BODY CONDITIONER

I received this as part of a campaign I did earlier this spring. It is amazing. I’ve never heard of a body conditioner before but trust me when I say it’s worth trying. I don’t know how it magically does it but it leaves your skin feeling ridiculously soft and smooth. It has a very satisfying bottle– the product comes out like the new Ketchup bottles– so you can get every last drop out.

HEAD AND SHOULDERS SUPREME

Not very fancy– but Head and Shoulders is my go-to. I switch between this and a fun shampoo every other watch. But I can’t not use H&S. With my dark hair, it’s a recipe for disaster if I give it up. I usually get the almond oil because I’m a sucker for anything almond scented, but picked up this supreme while on a Target run. I don’t think I noticed a difference in the shampoo but I do think the conditioner was a little more intense– in a good way.

BOBBI BROWN EYEBROW SHAPER

My other holy grail beauty product and my secret weapon for getting bold brows. Basically it’s mascara for your eyebrow hair. Works great and you can go lighter or heavier depending on the look you’re going for.

TULA SO POLISHED

This was also a gift from a partnership this year and, wow, I’m obsessed with this scrub. It smells like a pina colada and the scrub felt sugary in that in dissolved as you rubbed it in so it’s not too harsh at all. It left my skin feeling silky too.

PANTENE MIST BEHAVING DRY CONDITIONER

I’ve barely used dry shampoo during quarantine. I’m not going anywhere so it just hasn’t been a huge need. But man has this dry conditioner been a lifesaver! My hair gets so, so staticky. Especially since I blow it dry straight every day it feels extra prone to the static. Using this dry conditioner really helps cut down on how staticky my hair gets.

BOBBI BROWN TINTED MOISTURIZER

This is an old product I had to dig out of a cosmetic bag because my foundation wasn’t the right shade after I lost any color I had from the summer. Squeezed the last of it out! Reordered the new version for the winter. I’m really not wearing much skin makeup at all this days– but I like the tinted moisturizer instead of a full face of foundation if I do want to wear makeup.

SUPERGOOP MATTE SCREEN

This is the same product– they’ve just updated the packaging. Even though it’s a tiny bottle it really lasts a lot longer than you’d expect. I have a bunch of Supergoop face sunscreens that I rotate through (also love the glowscreen!). The matte screen is 100% mineral sunscreen but somehow doesn’t leave behind that mineral chalkiness that other mineral sunscreens have. It’s a GREAT everyday sunscreen and kind of evens out my skin too like a primer.

OLAY BODY WASH

I received this as a gift as part of a partnership I did earlier this year too. I freaking love this body wash. Great lather…. but the smell is the best part. I can’t even describe it, it just feels clean. And it reminds me of something that my best friend used to have at her house when I was a kid so it brought back a lot of memories for me. It’s a big bottle with a fantastic pump!

MEGABABE BODY SCRUB

Obviously I love a good scrub– this one for your body is great. It also smells coconut-y. I used it all summer and it would feel like I was on a tropical vacation while we were stuck at home. I really like whatever ingredients they use for the actual scrub. Felt substantial and really could be worked into the skin to exfoliate!

Maybe I’ll be back with another one of these posts before another year goes by 😆

Thanks for sharing these. You’re right, the Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant is a great replacement (I would even say better because it’s more effective without feeling harsh, if that makes sense)!

Can ask which color you use in the Bobbi Brown brow shaper? There only seems to be two choices. Thanks!

I use mahogany- there are multiple listings for some reason with different colors if you search for eyebrow shaper

I have a question about the Fresh Soy face cleanser, I tried it a few years ago but I felt like I couldn’t get it to foam in my hands (maybe it’s not supposed to foam and I just assumed ha) or it just was really slippery?? Lol like do you just rub it on your face? Or work it into your hands first? Idk why I just felt like it didn’t really work for me! I use the CeraVe hydrating cleanser, it really balances my skin and (it’s like the Glossier milky jelly I think).

H&S is the best!! Even my hairdresser commented on how good my hair smelled. I’ve picked up the coconut shampoo and conditioner the last two times and LOVE IT (of course)!
My go to brow product for bold brows is glossier boy brow. I don’t need much more color just need them to stay in place!
A great drugstore body exfoliator is the Dove Body Polish – would recommend trying. It comes in a pot like container.

Help!!! They’ve discontinued the Bobbi brown eyebrow shaper. I am devastated…have you discovered a back up yet?
