ON MY RADAR

Honestly don’t have much to say about this week. It’s just been filled with work and more of the same. BUT, I got the first dose of the vaccine yesterday (as a NJ resident, I am eligible since I’m pregnant). What a freaking relief. I really feel hopeful; like there is light at the end of the tunnel!! I know we have a ways to go, but I feel like we’re moving forward in the right direction.

ON MY RADAR 3.5.21

Here’s what has been on my radar this week:

ONE // Catherine O’Hara Breaks Down 9 Looks from 1988 to Now

How many people watched Schitt’s Creek during quarantine?? We got hooked and it was just such a highlight of our day. I would look forward to sitting down for an episode after dinner so, so much. Catherine O’Hara’s acting is one of the best parts of the show. Loved this sit down video with Vogue discussing some iconic looks of hers throughout the years!

TWO // Navy French Striped Dudley Stephens

love my striped Dudley Stephens. It’s navy and white, but Tuckernuck just launched an exclusive navy and tan striped version. While you may think I’m crazy but it totally takes on a different vibe. LOVE, love, love.

THREE // How to Eat Candy Like a Swedish Person

One of my cravings has been candy. Frankly, I eat a lot of candy pregnant or not… but I had an intense craving specifically for Swedish candy. I had received a bag of candy from Sockerbit from a press mailer last year and loved it. I placed a big order pretty late at night and when it arrived it was even better than I remembered. Just such a good mix of sweet and sour candy. The Swedes take their candy very, very seriously and that is something I can 100% get behind.

FOUR // A Week Away Trailer on Netflix

This looks unbelievably cheesy… in the absolute best way!!! Who doesn’t love a good teeny bopper musical movie??? My sister and I both love these kinds of movies and you better believe we’ll be tuning in. It comes out March 26 if this is the kind of thing up your alley too.

FIVE // Ballet Barre

We have absolutely no wall space where a barre like this would be appropriate, but that hasn’t stopped me from lusting over it. I miss going to in-person barre classes a lot, but I’ve made do with a kitchen chair for my at-home workouts. With the Peloton, I haven’t been doing them as much but I’d love to get back into the swing of things, especially as the baby continues to grow. I may have to invest in a portable one. Really get the home gym going, ha!

When our daughter was 8 (16 now) my husband installed a short ballet barre in our garage so she could always practice. Would just back the cars out! Had a wall of mirror squares behind it.
Fast forward to the pandemic, she was able to do all her zoom classes with it and I could do online barre too! Totally recommend.

This is genius. I bet Mike would love the mirrors too because he works out in the garage too

I lusted over a similar barre as well but also had no where to put it. I ended up getting a handrail and two brackets at Home Depot and screwed it into a door frame in our basement. The rail is sturdy but can slide out in the event we need to open the door. It was an absolute GAME CHANGER (& cost a total of $12!) and I love being able to do barre classes from home!

Pottery Barn Teen has 36” and 48” barres that can be installed on a wall! Plus the freestanding/moveable ones like the one Carly linked above (more expensive bc Pottery Barn, of course…but another option).

Congrats on the vaccine! I read an article today that said studies are showing that antibodies are passing through breast milk of vaccinated moms to their babies! Not only did you protect yourself & others, but you protected your baby too!

Have you tried out any of peloton’s barre classes? They recently added some but I have yet to try as I have zero experience with barre in any form

Congrats on the vaccine; it must feel like a weight has been lifted! My state recently opened to pregnant women and the earliest day I could grab an appointment is my due date next week. Fingers crossed the timing works out!!

Congrats on the vaccine! I’m a teacher in NJ and can’t wait to get it. By the way, do you guys have a basement? If so, could you turn some part of it into a gym?

It’s only partially finish with super low ceilings so it doesn’t work for real workouts unfortunately!
