SUNNIES

You guys. As I write this, the sun is shining. I absolutely underappreciated the sun growing up in Florida. It’s kind of like how my house was always filled with soda and candy… we had so much of it that it wasn’t a big deal. Friends would come over and be in candy heaven, but my sister and I could not care less about it. That’s exactly what it was like for the sun. We had so much of it. An absolute overabundance of sun apparently underwhelms you overtime. It’s really not until it’s dark all the time that you seriously begin to appreciate.
I’ve been super thankful for the extra hour of sunlight in the evenings. Today is the first day of spring and the days are just getting longer. I am a-okay with that. The only problem is that the sun has been hiding quite a bit here in Manhattan. Snow and rain and plain ole gray skies had me feeling super blue. I think it was definitely contributing to my homesicknesses.
Miraculously, the sun came out. I’m talking BRIGHT BLUE skies.

Even Kate Spade agreed.

Anyway, now that it’s officially spring and now that there is officially sunlight when I leave the office every evening… It’s time to pick up a new pair of sunglasses. In the pictures I took for the Jack Rogers giveaway, I realized that I’m not really feeling those sunnies anymore.

It’s not that I don’t love them (they’re actually one of my most favorite birthday presents that I’ve ever received), I’m just kind of looking for something new!!!

We are definitely a “Ray-Ban Family.” Seriously, you should see the drawer in our house filled with the most ridiculous number of Ray-Ban glasses… every. single. style. you can imagine. My mom and dad never got rid of any of their sunnies so we have a wonderful collection. They’re relics.

Case in point. These are sitting in a drawer somewhere. Seriously.

I know, I know. My mom and my sister are kind of the cutest things in the world. Eep!

Ray-Ban Aviators | These glasses were a staple for years. I can’t even remember getting them, but I seriously wore them for years and years.

Ray-Ban Clubmasters | Well these were fun little glasses. I wore them on and off for a while, but they’re kind of not my style.

And the Wayfarers. Oh, I do love them.
Anyway… which pair should I make my new frames?

Help me choose!!!

xoxo

I can't narrow it down past the Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and Ray-Ban pairs. I do love the unique shapes of the Tory and Kate Spade sunglasses though!

I JUST got the new Ray Ban tortoise shell ones you posted here and I totally love them. I go to school in upstate new york and I have been just dying for a super sunny day to wear them!

The Tory Burch ones are adorable and would be something different. I think you should get those and the heart-shaped ones for when you need "hater shields".

You should definitely get the Kate Spade sunglasses! I've been lusting over them for weeks, they have such a classic look. You'd look awesome in them 🙂

I'm gonna stray from the general consensus and suggest the AJ Morgan frames. I just love the keyhole bridge. Although I think the only way to get a new pair of sunnies is to try them all on in-store and see which flatters your face shape most.

The Ray-Ban's or Kate Spades are my vote!!!! Can't beat the quality of the timeless style of the Ray-Ban brand and just got a similar sassy Kate Spade pair with my reading RX for pool/beach book sessions! And get the Urban pair just for fun. You can never have too many pairs!

If you're willing to make a good investment, I recommend a pair of Chanel Sunglasses. I went into a sunglasses boutique looking to get a new pair of my usual Ray-Ban sunglasses and walked out with a beautiful cat eye pair that I've had for 2.5 years! Big deal for me, since I used to break or lose sunglasses every few months. These babies are almost indestructible. I've sat on them, stuffed them into bags and pockets without the case, and worn them to the beach, hiking, and while babysitting. They look similar to the current Chanel style 5225Q. I think they were about $375. Not in your face with the CC's- they are so small on my sunglasses my friends always ask where I got them and are surprised when they find out they are Chanel!

I like the Kate Spade and Tories. I love my oversize wayfarers since I need big sunglasses if you need more options.

I am a sucker for all Tortoiseshell but I like my sunglasses to be a bit larger than my regular ones. Out of these, I say Tory Burch.

I think MW, RayBan or Warby Parker. They are the most sophisticated and chic. I don't do trendy…I like timeless elegance and I think you do, too. 🙂 Plus, WP has an amazing try-on-at-home option, not to mention that their prices are very reasonable with exceptional quality.

I have super sensitive eyes… and walking outdoors without sunglasses can leave me with tears running down my face and completely blinded.  Sometimes I make Soccer Mom lead me to the car because I can’t open my eyes at all!
(I should really try to dig up this horrendous picture of me in elementary school where our class pictures were taken outside.  Not pretty.)
I have these Ray-Bans and they are my every day go-to pair!

There’s just something so so so charming about this pair… unfortunately, I’m not so into the price tag- eep!

Keyhole sunglasses are quite fun!!!  This Marc Jacobs pair is a great shape and color.

Oh, Tory… you get me every time.  I typically avoid colors for sunglasses, but the olive green is pretty neutral and low key!

So retro!  So Kate Spade!
Where are your favorite sunglasses from?  Are you buying a new pair this summer?

No new ones for me! I have a perfect pair of old school Ralph Lauren tortoiseshell sunglasses that are all I need! (Although those olive Tory's are pretty!)

Brooks Brothers recently licensed their name to Ray Ban for a limited edition collection sold exclusively in BB stores. I bought a pair for my boyfriend for his birthday this week and he LOVED them! (Not to mention they looked good on me too). I highly recommend them – a must for any prepster 🙂

I love the last ones! Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of stepping or sitting on my sunnies and breaking them…so it's WalMart brand for me! 😉
My favorites are my fiance's Ray-Bans…which I can only wear in the car, haha. He knows how I am!

I switch between my Ray Ban Wayfarers and Marc Jacobs sunnies. I'm like you, I need SUPER dark shades or I'm incapable of functioning. Gotta keep them nice in a big ol' Vera Bradley glasses case!

Cute picks! I normally wear cheap pairs from Forever 21, because of my tendency to lose them, but those Ray Bans are cute!

I have a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs that I adore. =] I love the Kate Spade frames, but that line always makes their glasses super narrow.

I have the classic ray-bans, but I think they have seen better days.

i don't spend a lot of money on sunglasses because i tend to destroy them, but i stick with classic gold aviators.
